The Philippines is known for having the longest Christmas in the world. Christmas songs are played on early morning radio or shopping malls as early as September 1st (the start of the -‘ber months’) or even hang up Christmas decorations by then. Filipinos give a lot of importance to this festivity. It’s a time to share, a time to give thanks, a time to be one with the community, and a time to be surrounded by the people you love and care for.
In Filipino Christmas, there is no snow; there is not a big guy dressed in red with a big black belt and white mustache, but everyone has the same mission as him: to give joy to children and loved ones. Everyone is Santa Claus. In Filipino Christmas, there is no cold winter breeze. Instead, you see warm smiles on children’s faces as they sing Christmas carols and receive presents from family and godparents.
With that in mind, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate SLAcademy’s 1st anniversary and Christmas, but to do it with our little friends.
Their smiles and laughter are always a joy to behold.
For children, happiness may only mean indulging in some sweet treats.
Children are reminders of how simple life should be. No trace of worries, no evidence of sadness. It was delight to see only happy faces.
For us at Siquijor Language Academy, Christmas season is children’s season. We were glad to be for a moment be part of their happiness.
We wish everyone a very merry Christmas!
